“I oversee the daily operations of a 24 chair dental practice in a Jewish Community Center that is an underserved population.
“I enjoy the daily hustle and bustle. I wear several hats so I'm overseeing the front desk operations, I'm overseeing the sterilization team, the dental assistant team, and I’m there for support for the providers. I've been doing this for 27 years, so we do have a lot of dentists that come to us out of residency programs, so although I'm not a dentist they still come to me for a lot of advice.
“With that being said, we have 27 dental providers, we have one orthodontist and we try to provide the best quality treatment. Although we are Health Center, we strive for quality and satisfaction and the use of the software helps with that because it's easy to use, there's not a lot of clicks. Just getting through a day and having an organized software where you can enter your information, your clinical notes, your coding. With that being done so efficiently, it makes room for us to see more patients.
“For me personally, the appointment book. That is the most utilized for my department because at our health center, we have a separate billing department and they're using the reporting aspect of it.
“The more information button, because you can navigate to appointments that way, you can see all the members of one family, and click on a family member, go back and check the appointments that family member has, where we used to have to go into each individual patient's chart to see where the appointments are, that actually is my favorite feature.
“One thing that I do like about Dentrix also is when you have a staff as large as mine, we have almost 70 people, the turnover rate sometimes can be frustrating. So when it comes to training new people, even if you don't have a knowledge of Dentistry it is very trainable and people do pick up on it very fast.
“I think it makes it easier for the patient to also understand what's going on with them because we can, in a few clicks, show them x-rays that are integrated into Dentrix. We can show them past clinical notes, review medical histories. Even though it's for us to be using, it's also easy for the patient to understand when you show them or print out treatment notes or something like that.
“For those looking to bring into a new software - the ease of Dentrix and the support that you guys provide is probably the biggest selling point.
“We've been using Dentrix Enterprise since 2008 and we are currently getting ready to do an upgrade. I was really happy to see the road map and where Dentrix is going in the future. I think it will make it much easier. I also like that we have a voice as customers and it's taken seriously. They use our voice to enhance the product.”
